Loves: Collecting vintage blues, jazz, and soul records
Rachid was born in Rabat, Morocco, and he was only in the U.S. for three years before starting at Schwartz Brothers in the Sanitation department. Rachid went on to work in Packaging, Logistics, and Maintenance, and he eventually moved into management in 2006. He now leads the bakery’s Operations team, which includes 205 team members and 13 managers, and he’s a key member of the Schwartz Brothers leadership team.

Loves: School and sports activities with her kids
Marissa started working for Schwartz Brothers in the Gretchen’s division, and now she manages the bakery’s Customer Service team. She’s involved in the entire sales business process, and she likes that the environment is “truly like a family”—a mix of different people, talents, and perspectives.
“When we’ve got an issue, we work together to come to an answer. And the company is always growing and changing, so there are many opportunities for advancement if you’re willing to work hard.”

Loves: Seahawks, playing basketball, and reading news and books
Cesar began as a part-time employee while attending school, and he now works full-time managing 46 people in the Packaging, Shipping, and Receiving and Sanitation departments. He says that working here has improved his self-confidence and leadership skills, and that the company has always been flexible about scheduling to accommodate his outside interests.
“The bakery has many immigrants, and everyone gets along—so you learn new perspectives and other ways of life. It is truly a life-changing experience.”
